WHAT IS LASER HAIR REDUCTION?

Laser hair removal is a safe and effective method for permanent hair reduction by using concentrated light energy to target and disable hair follicles. The procedure significantly slows hair growth, leading to smoother, hair-free skin over time.

Step-by-Step Process of Laser Hair Removal:

  1. Melanin Absorption

    • The laser emits a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in the hair shaft and follicle.

  2. Heat Generation & Follicle Damage

    • The absorbed light converts into heat, which damages the hair follicle’s ability to produce new hair without harming surrounding skin.

  3. Targeting the Growth Cycle

    • Hair grows in three phases:

      • Anagen (Active Growth Phase) – The best time for treatment, as the hair is attached to the follicle.

      • Catagen (Transition Phase) – Hair begins to detach from the follicle.

      • Telogen (Resting Phase) – Hair falls out, and the follicle remains inactive.

    • Since only actively growing hairs (Anagen phase) respond to laser treatment, multiple sessions are needed to effectively target all hair follicles at different stages.

  4. Gradual Hair Reduction

    • With each session, treated hair becomes thinner, lighter, and grows slower, eventually leading to permanent hair reduction after a full treatment course.

FAQs

What is Clarity II Laser Hair Removal?

Clarity II is a next-generation dual-wavelength laser that uses Alexandrite (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) technology to safely and effectively reduce unwanted hair on all skin tones. It delivers fast, comfortable treatments with long-term results.

How does it work?

The laser emits energy that targets the pigment in the hair follicle, heating and disabling it without harming surrounding skin.

  • Alexandrite works beautifully for lighter skin.

  • Nd:YAG is the gold standard for deeper skin tones.

This allows Clarity II to treat every Fitzpatrick safely and precisely.

Is Laser Hair Removal with Clarity II safe for dark skin?

Yes.
Thanks to the Nd:YAG wavelength and advanced cooling technology, Clarity II is safe and highly effective for deeper skin tones, reducing the risk of burns or pigmentation changes when used properly.

What areas can be treated?

Just about anywhere, including:

  • Underarms

  • Bikini/Brazilian

  • Legs

  • Arms

  • Face (chin, upper lip, jawline)

  • Chest + back

  • Stomach

  • Shoulders + neck

  • Full body packages

Does it hurt?

Most clients find Clarity II surprisingly comfortable due to its built-in cooling system. Sensation varies, but many describe it as a quick “snap” or warmth that fades instantly.

How many sessions will I need?

Hair grows in cycles, and the laser treats follicles only in the active phase.
Most clients need 6–8 sessions per area, spaced 4–6 weeks apart for optimal reduction.

When will I see results?

You’ll notice shedding within 1–2 weeks, and hair grows back finer, lighter, and less dense after each session. Results build progressively through your series.

Is there downtime?

No downtime.
You may experience mild redness or sensitivity for a few hours, but daily activities can resume immediately.

Can I shave before or between sessions?

Yes — shaving is required.
Do not wax, tweeze, or use depilatory creams, as the follicle must be intact for the laser to be effective.

10. Who is not a candidate?

You may not be eligible if you:

  • Are pregnant

  • Have active infections in the area

  • Have recently tanned or have a sunburn

  • Are taking photosensitizing medications (case-by-case)

A consultation ensures safety.

Can laser hair removal be done over tattoos?

No.
Laser cannot be used directly over tattooed skin, but we can safely work around it.

Can I combine Laser Hair Removal with other treatments?

Yes — but timing matters.
We typically avoid doing resurfacing lasers, microneedling, chemical peels, or RF on the same day in the same area. Your provider will guide safe scheduling.

What should I do before my appointment?

  • Shave the treatment area 12–24 hours prior

  • Avoid active skincare for 3 days on the area (tretinoin, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C, etc.)

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning for 2 weeks

  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin

What does aftercare look like?

  • Keep the area cool and clean

  • Avoid hot showers, workouts, or saunas for 24 hours

  • No active skincare for 3 days

  • Use SPF daily on exposed areas

  • Expect light shedding over the next 1–2 weeks
